Wooden Dummy
The Mook Yan Jong or Wooden Dummy is a very famous Ving Tsun (wing chun) form. The dummy form is in some ways considered the fighting set of Ving Tsun. The form is taught in 7 sections. Each section emphasizing certain combination of techniques. The dummy allows us to apply our footwork, angle, kicking, and techniques with out the worry of injuring our training partner. When the student has developed his understanding of Chum Kiu, they are ready to start the Dummy. The Dummy consists of attacking, defending, and counter attacking with the use of footwork and angle. Here the students can apply the yiu ma wich the developed in chum kiu to unify the body for power.
We require 3 things from the student when they train the Jong. They must "stick" to the dummy and not pull away as you go through the movements. Apply the Yiu Ma in all the movements of the dummy. And lastly you must be able to apply all the techniques in actual combat.
