Back in business
Hi. I just moved to Santa Rosa Beach area and am looking for a place to get into martial arts again. It has been a few years and I am out of shape and miss the atmosphere of being in a dojo. I have picked up a few things here and there from friends that have taken Kung Fu, but all I have actually been instructed in is Okinawan styles of Karate. I was wondering how much of an adjustment Wing Chun would be from what I have already been instructed, or if it would interfere/make it easier to learn... I would appreciate any help :-) thx

Re: Back in business

Nokata,

Welcome to the area and our forum.  The Wing Chun is a differnt approach then soome of the Okinawan styles, but I don't find much of a conflict.  Any previous martial art training will always benifit when learning another arts.  There is sometimes a bit of clash, but is usally work through quickly.  I have students that come from and still train in the Okinawan arts,. One that studied TKD for over 30yrs, MMA Guys and just about everything eles.  If anything they find that our simple direct approach is both refreshing and rewarding no matter what style they come from.  You're are more then welcome to call me and come see a class, or even participate.
