Frequently Asked Questions

Why do Wing Chun?

Wing Chun is a no nonsense system that is direct and efficient in a real combat situation.  It’s simple in structure giving fast results with out having to study for ten years to put it to actual use.

Do you have to be very flexible to study?

Absolutely not.  Wing Chun is a southern style that uses it’s legs to drive and penetrate the opponents structure.  Kicks are low line and get power from the body’s natural movement.  There are no flowery dance like movements, or deep and awkward stances to master.

What is Chi Sau?

Ip Man and Bruce Lee doing Chi SauChi Sau or sticking hands is way of training when two students start with their arms in contact in a fluid rolling motion.  This teaches one reflexive responses through position, and the ability to “feel “ the opponents defensives and weakness through contact.  Chi Sau unlike any other art is constantly changing just like combat itself. Unlike training static movements Chi Sau is link between form and flat out fighting

Is it to late for me to learn?

Nonsense!  Wing Chun can be learned by anyone no matter size, shape, stature or age!  The masters in Hong Kong train and do chi sau well into their 80’s.

How does it reduce stress?

Wing Chun does not clash force on force, but redirects the energy. In order for this to work one must stay relaxed in a high tension situation. Which easy transcends into daily life. Even the breathing we do conserves our energy and keeps us in a relaxed but alert state.
