BIU GEE
In Sil Lim Tau we learn to have a proper understanding of our positions and energy application in each and every movement.
Chum Kiu teaches us how to use the hand positions we learn from Sil Lim Tau and how to co-ordinate them with our turning and stepping stance, also we learn how to use our techniques to deflect and borrow the incoming energy or force. Chum Kiu also teaches the understanding of how to use and develop our Yiu Ma (waist energy).
Biu Gee really requires one thing from us and that is every movement must have the explosive power.
To develop this we must be totally relaxed, have good speed and not to hold back on our movements, meaning we use the full extension of our body in every movement. In turn this will help us to generate power in two different directions at the same time.

STANCE/FOOTWORK:
Sil Lim Tau Ma, (balance stance). The stance should be at the practitioners shoulder width, with the shoulders aligned straight on top of the inside edge of our feet. Knees are slightly bent and aligned with the top of our toes. The back of the head lines up with the centre point of our heels. Hips are forward, back straight, stomach in, upper body relaxed, knees pulled in and feet slightly turned inward.
Jeun Ma, (turning stance). Turning into a left or right stance the whole of our body is now supported by just one leg. When the stance is correctly formed we can lift up our lead leg without moving our body.
Biu Ma, (thrusting stance). As the turning stance our supporting foot/leg should have total support of our body weight. You push of the supporting leg whilst lifting the lead leg slightly off the ground, the distance you travel is one shoulder width. (in other words the supporting leg replaces the position of the lead leg when you step).
Huen Ma, (circle stepping). Similar to 'Biu Ma', but instead of stepping directly towards your opponent, you first avoid your opponent then step back in towards them in a circler motion.
